Space Hulk has long been associated with difficult, yet rewarding strategy games that are designed to appeal almost exclusively to fans of the Warhammer 40,00 universe. But with the announcement of Space Hulk: Deathwing it may just be breaking out of its niche and entering into the mainstream.
Space Hulk: Deathwing is a first person shooter that sees players taking on the role of Space Marine who also happens to be member of the crack Deathwing Squad. Players will have the chance to experience a desperate battle against Genestealers in the claustrophobic tunnels of a Space Hulk. There is also the promise of some significant RPG elements such as upgradeable armor and weapons as well and experience earned abilities.
There is no current release date for Deathwing but it is being developed for PC and Consoles by StreumOn Studio, creators of E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy so they have some experience in the genre. Will this be the game to bring the Space Hulk name to the masses? Only time will tell but based on the very cool trailer there is every chance it will.
