– Going to a gaming convention can be a stressful experience. The noise, the crowds and the crazy can all push in on people causing all sorts of anxiety in the process. Thankfully there is the AFK room. For those that don’t know what the AFK room is here is the official description

More than a quiet room, the Take This AFK Room is a calming space for people who need it, staffed with volunteers and clinicians who can answer questions and offer support for people who are stressed out. Some visitors simply need a break from the excitement and stimulation of a large event. Others seek conversation about mental health related issues. Still others check in to support us and our mission. And the rare few come because they need help RIGHT NOW.

So as you can see this is a great initiative and one that has been at PAX Australia for a couple of years now (and has been staffed by friend of Player 2 Jason Imms and our very own Ken Lee) and to keep that support going they need a little helping hand. To do this they have set up an Indigogo campaign with various rewards and perks. – After making a triumphant return Ty is coming back for remaster seconds. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue will also be getting the PC upgrade treatment with a release into early access before a full release later this year. The first Ty game was remastered wonderfully and the gameplay held up well so I am keen to go back for seconds.

– Fans of chaotic off-road racing should be happy with the Arcade racing franchise FlatOut announcing its return with FlatOut 4: Total Insanity. Developed by Kylotonn Racing Games, the devs behind the most recent WRC titles, FlatOut 4 will hopefully be a return to form after the 3rd game was a dissapointing mess. The game is coming to Xbox One and PS4 in March and after seeing the trailer I am actually cautiously optimistic that this will be a return to the fun of the second game.

– This weekend marks the return of RTX Sydney. The Gaming/Pop culture expo is back with a huge list of stellar guests including Greg Miller and the legend himself, Hideo Kojima. The show is also hosting the Nintendo Switch with hands-on sessions available for the general public for the first time in Australia. The show is on both Saturday and Sunday at the International Convention Center in Sydney. For those that can’t make it key parts of the show will be viewable on Twitch here: Stay tuned for Player 2’s coverage of the event in the coming weeks and make sure to say hi if you see any Player 2 t-shirts walking around the show floor.
