You Can’t Keep a Good Saint Down – Saints Row 3 Remastered Announced
It is something of a well-known fact that I love the 3rd Street Saints. Their particular brand of mayhem has always entertained me no end. The more insane they got, the more I loved it. I readily admit that they are not the greatest games on the planet, but boy-o-boy do I keep coming back to them. They offer a sense of frivolity and humour that hides quite a lot of heart. Heart that can’t be erased with all the purple dildos and gimp-drawn pony carts in the world. So to say I was happy when I found out Saints Row 3 was getting the full remaster treatment, well that would be an understatement.
Just announced Saints Row 3: Remastered is more than just the upscale that SR4 got when it was brought to current consoles. This is the full shebang. HDR, new AA options, a brand new lighting system, enhanced reflections, bigger draw distances and a purple partridge in a purple pear tree. Looking at the footage, it is clear that a lot of work has gone into making this look great on modern systems. There have also been improvements to characters, animations, pedestrians cars and weapons. This really is more than just a lick of paint.
The coolest part of it all? It is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC on the 22nd of May with all of the DLC (34 items apparently) from the original release. The co-op is also intact, after all, taking over Steelport is more fun with friends. So, if you, like me love this group of rebellious reprobates then get excited by looking at the screens below. I can’t wait to sing opposites attract again and maybe, just maybe, if this does well, it might be the force to bring Saints Row 5 into the real world and not just my annual E3 wishlists.
