Just Tap it In – PGA 2K21 Announced
Ok here is the thing. I like golf. I am not even joking. I like to play golf. Take that as you will. As one of the very rare breed of gamers who like to play golf, I am also very much a fan of a trip around a virtual course. 18 holes at TPC Sawgrass before lunch? Sure. Play the back 9 at St Andrew’s? Why not? In recent times, my go-to virtual experience has been The Golf Club. A wonderful series of games that was developed by a group of ex-Tiger Woods developers that puts a focus on realism and skill.
Well, The Golf Club is no more, but fret not Happy Gilmore wannabes because it has just had a name change to come in line with their current owner’s sports titles. PGA 2K21 is the new top-dog on the golfing scene and for the first time in what seems like an age, the game features the full PGA licence (Rory McIlroy Golf from EA was the last title to do so.) PGA 2K21 is coming with all the trimmings. Real-life courses and pros, a full career mode and a host of different multiplayer modes and tournaments.
But fret not long time fans, this inclusion of the full PGA Licence (the last Golf Club Game had a limited PGA licence) won’t take away from what The Golf Club has become known for. The challenging and rewarding gameplay and amazing course creator are back so this really seems to be the golf game with it all. The only worry I have is that now the game has been fully absorbed into the 2K stable is that we start to see things like dodgy microtransactions start to creep into the game.
We don’t have too long to wait to find out because PGA 2K21 is coming to the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch on August 21.
