Anger Foot | Hype Check

With Free Lives’s Anger Foot now only a few days away, we wanted to touch base with some of our team to see how they’re feeling about the game. We’ve seen a range of media up to this point, from gameplay showcases and trailers, we’ve seen the press releases, and heard the talk, but how are we feeling? That’s where we’re bringing Hype Check into the mix; to get a gauge on what the prospective players are thinking. So here’s how we’re feeling about Anger Foot.

I remember seeing this one at the Devolver Digital showcase a few weeks ago – and really, the fact that I remembered anything other than how absolutely weird that showcase was is evidence enough that this game made an impression. Anger Foot looks like pure chaos, and I hope those kicks feel as satisfying to bust out as the trailer makes them look. This is not my sort of game, but I do love its vibe – I suspect this game is heading for a ‘cult following’ type of status.

This looks absolutely batshit insane. It reminds me a lot of Hotline Miami, and that game was awesome. It’s super weird but if done right this could be absolutely awesome. I’m terrible at these games but it never stops me from trying.  I love these type of action games that just let you go ham on enemies. Super cool vibe.

Having played the demo, I feel like this is the sort of game that will capture people for a very short window and then they will move on. I am not sure there is enough depth to keep people coming back after the novelty of the gimmick has worn off. I dig the style but worry it is a one-trick pony

I’ve checked out the demo on multiple occasions over the last couple of years and I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played, but that said, it feels like the game won’t have a huge amount to say. My worry for Anger Foot is that it will remain pretty one-note for the majority of the experience with little to change it up. As such, right now it’s an interesting but not majorly compelling title to me. We’ll see how it shapes up upon launch.
